While an optometrist helps patients improve their vision by conducting eye exams and prescribing glasses and corrective lenses, only an ophthalmologist like Dr. Hester can perform eye surgeries and non-surgical procedures to help correct vision issues.
Common vision symptoms that require an eye exam from an ophthalmologist include:
We encourage people who have visited their optometrist, wear prescription glasses or corrective lenses but still have problems with their vision to contact Hester Eye Care and schedule a comprehensive eye exam.
We don't require referrals to schedule an appointment. Our friendly staff can help you schedule an appointment that suits your needs, assist in filling out medical paperwork, and answer any questions patients have about our care and services.
Hester Eye Care performs diabetic exams (Medicare requires one exam per year). We don't perform LASIK/corrective lenses procedures.
After completing an eye exam, Dr. Hester and his team discuss the diagnosis, along with treatment recommendations with patients.
We offer multiple corrective lenses options that include TECNIS Eyhance monofocal lenses to help improve eyesight for patients with cataracts. After completing cataract surgery, patients typically don't have to return for follow-up treatments for a few years.
Other treatments include an in-office procedure called Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty(SLT) for patients with glaucoma. A laser, applied through a special contact lens to the eye drainage system, stimulates a biochemical change to improve dry eye symptoms. Dr. Hester highly recommends this pain-free, quick, non-invasive procedure to those who frequently use eye drops.
For eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, early detection and diagnosis help us create a long-term management care plan.
